Te Miro Bay is me and my husbands go to fishing spot.
Te Miro Bay is located in Oneroa/Cable Bay district. The bay can be entered off Nick Johnstone Drive on foot. There is a small cul-de-sac to park at the end of Nick Johnstone Drive. The rest of the way is on foot down a unpaved driveway these are private properties so stick to the path. At the end of the unpaved path there is grassed path with a walkway sign. Cross the small bridge and just before the steps turn left, there is a unmarked path through the Mulenbekia (plants) it will lead you to Te Miro Bay. Be careful with the man made tree rooted steps going down to the beach they can be slippery.
You can either fish off the beach or go a little further to the rock point to the right. Me and husband go to the rock point. There is plenty of room for keeping your gear dry and also fish.
Be mindful of the tides as you can get wet if you choose to go during high tide. It can also get very windy too best to check wind radar if going to this spot.
We have caught plenty of kahawai and snapper off these rocks and continue going back.
