Palm Beach

Overview

Palm Beach is a well known favourite of locals and tourists. With its beautiful white sand and palm trees surrounding the beach it makes you feel like you are in the tropics.

Palm Beach is a beautiful north side beach. The beach is perfect for paddle boarding, swimming, tanning, making sandcastles and metal detecting.

Palm Beach has a two small parking lots, two public toilets and a BBQ area.

Playgrounds

Located in the middle of Palm Beach is a large boat shaped playground. Which is safe for little ones to play on and also popular for having family/friend gatherings.

Food Options

If you are feeling peckish or thirsty Palm Beach, has a few food options across the road.

There is a Palm Beach store that sells all you need to make your beach experience more enjoyable. They sell hand scooped ice-creams, delicious toasties (popular choice), drinks, coffees and much more.

If your feeling fancy then check out Arcadia café/restaurant. They serve delicious meals such as eggs benedict, fish & chips and burgers, or sip on some yummy cocktails/beverages. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner so you wont go hungry.

Parking

Parking lots can be found on both ends of the beach with additional roadside parallel parking. Palm Beach can be popular during hot seasons making it difficult to find parking.

Note

Also just to note there is a Small Bay/Beach separated from the main Palm Beach over the rocks on the Western side which Waiheke Locals call “Nudie Beach” formally known as Little Palm Beach – It is enjoyed by Local Waiheke Nudists.

Seasonal Rules

Dogs: There is a seasonal council rule in place for dogs on Palm Beach. The rule for Palm Beach and foreshore areas state that dogs are allowed on the beach that includes Little Palm Beach area during the dates below.

From 1 December to 1 March. On public holidays and weekends between Labour weekend and Easter weekend.

10 am to 6 pm – Prohibited
Before 10 am and after 6pm – Under control, off the leash.

Key Access Points

Palm Road Store Side

Opposite Arcadia Café on Palm Road (beach side) is a small entrance/driveway for the small parking lot. There is an additional parking lot opposite the Red Shed and Palm Beach Hall at the western end of the Palm Road.

Palm Road Reserve

Palm Road reserve has a playground and a rubber matting strip that allows wheelchairs onto the beach.

Palm Road left hand side

Opposite the Red Shed and Palm Beach Hall is another small carpark with limited amenities. There are some steps leading to the beach.

Wheelchair Access

Palm Beach is made of sand, it has ample room on the grass berms to take in the views of Palm Beach.

Or you could possibly access the beach off a rubber mat ramp near the Palm Road reserve playground.
