Overview

Waiheke High School is the only high school on Waiheke, they accommodate and teach students from year 7 to year 13. All the needed years to advance into university or trades.

Waiheke High School is located on Donald Bruce Road.

Waiheke High School is committed to providing comprehensive and engaging subjects that allow their students to become confident, resilient, and informed citizens.

To support the smooth transition of students into secondary school, Year 7 and 8 students are taught mainly in a ‘homeroom’ situation meaning they stay in one room. They will learn subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. Students also study subjects such as preforming arts, Creative Industries, Physical Education and Health and Te Ao Māori.

Year 9 students study the same subjects as Years 7 and 8 but they move to different classes around the school.

Year 10  students can select four option subjects of their choice, based on their interests and future study /employment goals. Their chosen subjects run in half-year semesters.

Year 11, 12 and 13 students focus on NCEA Levels 1, 2 and 3 as they prepare for their future study and/or career paths.

The school also has a big recreational centre and field allowing a range of events and sports to be hosted at.
