The Junction is a Waiheke community library filled with over 600 board games. It is set up in a Waiheke residents garage for residents to borrow any game for free.
Waiheke residents can borrow most games from this collection at no cost – all they ask is that you leave a $50 deposit, which will be returned when the game is given back in good condition the deposits help them buy another copy if it was lost or destroyed.
I spoke with the owner Bob in 2025. He told me he brought all the games back from Brooklyn – USA. So many of the games in this collection, you will not be able to find in New Zealand. Also told me its run as a not for profit business.
They have set the games up in a way that one wall is the easy to play games. The other wall of games is much harder or games that take a long time, for the more dedicated gamers. They also have packs of games that are good for groups/parties.
Some of the high end games have added costs and need more discussion about costs, I did not get an exact number on this, but it could be quite a bit more than some. Due to some high end games costing over $200 new.
Please be aware this is operated out of a family home so hours can vary, to know days of opening and special events or new game additions feel free to contact them through their website.
