The Recovery Shop is a waste minimisation project of Island Waste Collective (IWC). Their main purpose is to provide the community with affordable items and keep it out of landfill.
They save items that would usually go into landfill and give them purpose and allow someone’s much loved and used item go to the next person for a low price or even sometimes free.
Essentially the recovery shop is a thrift store. So if you have any clothing, books or products you would usually just throw in a bag and bin, think about the recovery store they would be happy to accept your items/donations. Even though those items may not serve purpose in your life they may make another’s life more fortunate.
They work along side Waiheke Community Resource Recovery Park so any bigger items such as furniture, building materials, etc please donate to there, these donations can also be picked up and purchased at 110 Ostend Road. Cash or card is accepted.
Please see a staff member before dropping off your donations, and please NO DUMPING.
Please don’t leave anything outside as it can create a traffic hazard and also the rain might get to it before they do!
Soiled and unusable items will not be accepted.
Also feel free to collect and drop off your clean aluminum wine or kombucha lids at their shop. They will be sold to metal merchants with 100% of the proceeds going to the Jassy Dean Trust, a local charity who do great work supporting local families in times of medical need.
