Emergency Services

Emergency Contact – In any life-threatening situation, dial 111 and specify whether you need Police, Fire, or Ambulance. For non-urgent police matters, you can call 105.

Police – The Waiheke Police Station is located at 104 Ocean View Road, Oneroa. It is staffed by a dedicated team of officers who handle everything from local patrols to criminal investigations.

Fire & Emergency – The island has two main stations: Oneroa and Onetangi. These are primarily volunteer-led brigades. They respond to fires, motor vehicle accidents, and often act as medical first responders to support the ambulance service.

Ambulance – Based in Ostend (near the Waiheke Health Trust), the ambulance service provides 24/7 emergency medical care. The crew is a combination of paid paramedics and volunteer officers.

Coastguard Waiheke: A vital volunteer-run service based at Matiatia. They handle on-water emergencies, including boat breakdowns, groundings, and medical rescues at sea.

Westpac Rescue Helicopter – For life-threatening emergencies or critical transfers to Auckland hospitals.

Ostend Medical Centre – While not an “emergency room” in the traditional hospital sense, they provide urgent clinical care during business hours.
