Waiheke Sea Scouts is a youth adventure club located in on Putiki Reserve. Waiheke youth learn new skills, have an adventure and make new friends.
Their historic scout hall called “The Ship” is situated on Putiki Reserve overlooking Putiki Bay.
Their goal is to inspire and equip young people aged 6 to 26 with life skills: problem-solving; teamwork; citizenship; respect for the environment and for each other; healthy living; and more.
At Waiheke Sea Scouts youth go camping, sailing, rowing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, making new friends – all this and more.
The club is split into 4 main sections I will list below. As club members age the activities get more challenging with more team building activities.
Kea) The Keas programme is designed around Year 1 to Year 3 at school (from 6 years to 8 years old). Keas interact with nature and learn to share through co-operation and teamwork.
Cubs) The Cubs programme is designed around Year 4 to Year 6 at school (8-11 years old). Cubs do outdoor adventures like camping, bushwalking, outdoor cooking, sailing, expeditions, and helping in the community.
Scouts) The Scouts programme is designed around Year 7 to Year 10 at school (12-14 years old). Scouts learn the key skills of survival, camping, water sailing, leading, and helping in the community.
Venturers) The Venturers program is designed around Year 11 to Year 14 at school (14+ years old). Venturers develop their own programs – from Vocational activities developing self-confidence, to leadership courses and team-building exercises.
Gear Grab is a hire shop on Waiheke, they have a wide range of everyday gear. Their store consists of party, gaming, outdoors, household, tech and more.
Waiheke Wings operates at the Carsons Airfield on Waiheke, they fly to a few destinations around the gulf islands, Auckland and also offer scenic tours.
Island Direct is a direct ferry service that travels from Downtown Auckland and Waiheke Island. It is a smaller ferry company in comparison to Fullers.
Take A Bite is a small delightful café located on in Ostend on Belgium Street. They offer delicious handmade pastries, breakfast items, light lunches and coffees.
Arcadia is a laidback style restaurant located metres away from Palm Beach. Their menu is not fussy, they use fresh quality ingredients to create good, honest food.
Shop the Rock is a local gift shop located in Oneroa, they sell a range of Waiheke and New Zealand-made gifts and souvenirs. Perfect for gifting or keepsakes.

Current Fees
Current fees range between $100 – $130 per child.
Some groups have additional costs e.g. $20 BBQ fee per term
Hall Hire
Waiheke Sea scouts also offer hall hire of the “The Ship”. A hall/boathouse located on the side of the water.
