“Onetangi Secret Carpark”- I call it this because the carpark signage is minimal, and trees are now preventing a view of it from the road. This carpark usually has parking available. The parks are free and shade from the trees blocks the sun in the afternoons.
I visited this carpark on a busy weekend in 2026. There were still many parks available and some of those parks were in the shade. I also drove down to the beach to look at other smaller carparks located by Jacob’s Ladder and the bus stop, and they were completely full.
The carpark has around 12-16 parks total, so it could easily become too busy if many people start using this hidden gem.
The trees are growing up on this carpark making it harder to see from the road, it is still here and available to use.
Note: Access into this carpark is only one way, you enter were the parking sign is.
