Matiatia Upper Carpark

Overview

Matiatia Upper Gravel Car Park or Matiatia Gravel Car Park is what the locals call it. The official name is Owhanake Car Park. The parking lot is about a 8min walk from the Fullers boat, much further than the lower carparks.

The carpark consists of about 130-150 gravel parks that are not marked, you just have to find a spot. This car park is normally pretty busy as you can see from the photos.

The parking lot appears to have some camera surveillance now. This is a newish addition to the carpark, unsure how hard it would be to get the footage in the event your car was hit or broken into.

This car park is well known locally to park your car long term when going to town for events or trips. The parking is free and up to 48 hours. Most other parking around Matiatia is $3.50 or $6.50 for only 24 hours.

Access Information

The best way to access this parking lot would be coming from Oceanview Road and just turning in.

Truck and boat parking not really available at this parking lot, but you might find some smaller trucks parked in here.
