Overview
Te Miro Bay is a little secluded beach sheltered by Pohutukawa trees that is only accessed via foot, it is located below the coastal walkway called the Matiatia Headland Path.
Not many people know about this Bay as they usually just stick to the paths, you will have to leave the path to get to the Bay, but be careful there is only one way to get down.
Te Miro Bay is located in Oneroa/cable bay district it can be entered off Nick Johnstone drive on foot. There is a small cul-de-sac to park at the end of Nick Johnstone drive and then the rest of the way is on foot down a unpaved driveway these are private properties so stick to the path. At the end of the unpaved path it will link you to a grassed path. There is sign that says Walkway follow this to the clearing of beautiful ocean views. Cross the small bridge and just before the steps turn left there is a unmarked path through the Mulenbekia (plants) it will lead you to Te Miro Bay be careful with the man made tree rooted steps going down to the beach they can be slippery.
You can either take in the ocean views on the Bay while sitting on the pebbles or take a stroll around the rocks. There are no rubbish bins or beach amenities at Te Miro Bay please take your rubbish home with you.
Located above the bay on the Matiatia Headland path there is a picnic table you can sit and have a picnic with ocean views in the background.
