Overview

Island Scoot is a local scooter hire business based in Ostend, they offer premium retro scooters combined with a classic Italian design for hire, so you can ride around Waiheke in style.

You can get a quick ride from a taxi or bus to pick up your scooter in Ostend. Plus only a 2 min scooter ride to get to sandy Palm Beach.

Take a ride on their 50cc Scomadi Turismo Leggera scooters which are a true replica of the Classic GP Lambretta a iconic scooter in the 60’s.

2025 Update

Island Scoot has now moved location. They still take phone and website bookings.

Requirements

  • You must be 21 + years to hire and also have ample experience/skills to ride their scooters.
  • Full valid car drivers licence is required and credit card/debit card.
  • They take credit card payment on booking and refund if weather conditions are unrideable on the day.
  • Retro helmets and comprehensive Insurance are included in hire.

Their Scooters aren’t permitted past Onetangi Beach or onto unsealed farm roads, note a $1000 bond applies to all hires to cover insurance.

Scooters must be filled with 95 octane gas before you return the scooter, There is a BP gas station 1 minute up the road from island scoots base.

Single Seater $99 Per day

Twin Seater $130 Per day (140kg or under combined weight limit applies)

125cc Scoot $130 Per day (Full motorbike Licence required)

The best way to access island scoot is to catch a bus to Oneroa village and walk down past the BP on Tui Street, or walk from the fullers boat (Matiatia), about 25 minutes.
