Overview

Waiheke Cemetery is the main public cemetery on the Island. Plots have a variety of costs depending on size, location and availability. A large section of the cemetery is reserved for veterans our fallen soldiers.

Waiheke Cemetery is also known as Waiheke/Onetangi Lawn Cemetery is owned and maintained by Auckland Council.

The first burial took place in 1949 and the cemetery is still operational to this day.

The cemetery provides burial plots in a single berm area; each plot measures 1.2 x 2.4 metres and may be dug extra depth to allow for a second burial.

There are no pre-purchasing of plots due to the small size of the cemetery. Burials take place in the next new plot available.

The cemetery currently has an area set aside for ash interments and baby burials.

The cemetery is open to the public so you can pay respects and be with your loved ones whenever you want.
