Matiatia Upper Carpark

Overview

Matiatia upper gravel carpark or “Matiatia gravel carpark” – that’s what the locals call it. The official name is Owhanake Carpark. The parking lot is a 8-10 minutes walk from the Fullers terminal. This is much further away from the terminal than Matiatia main carpark.

This car park is well known locally to park your car long term when going to town for events or trips. The parking is free and up to 48 hours. Most other parking around Matiatia is $3.50 or $6.50 for only 24 hours.

The carpark consists of about 130-150 unmarked gravel parks. You just have to find a parking spot.This carpark is normally busy as you can see from the photos.

The parking lot appears to have some camera surveillance now. This is a newish addition to the carpark, unsure how hard it would be to get the footage in the event your car was hit or broken into.

Access Information

The best way to access this parking lot would be coming from Ocean View Road.

Truck and boat parking is not really available at this parking lot, but you might find some smaller trucks parked in here.
