Te Matuku Stockyard Reserve

Overview

Te Matuku Stockyard Reserve is a open grass field located in Orapiu off Orapiu Road. It is a dog friendly reserve with a bench table and long drop toilet.

This reserve is managed by the Auckland Council. Located near by is Te Matuku Bay and Marine reserve.

The reserve is located on an old stockyard or rural lifestyle block with remnants of an old stockyard pen and a loading race (loading ramp). The surrounding fenced areas are pens used to hold, sort, and draft animals before they are loaded. Whereas the the sloped wooden section is designed to lead livestock (like cattle or sheep) from the ground level up into a truck or trailer.

This particular block I believe is no longer used for stock.
