Putiki Reserve Loop Track is located in Surfdale off Shelly Beach Road, It is a beautiful coastal walk looping around the point of Putaki Bay and Putiki Bay.
The loop track is located through Putiki Reserve opposite the Waiheke Sea Scouts hall, public toilets and a tree swing.
It is a clay/dirt inclined track surrounded by gorse, overgrown trees and open coastal views of Putaki Bay and Putiki Bay.
Putiki Reserve Loop Track must of previously been named “Stu’s Track” as upon walking the track we came across a wooden sign lodged into a tree with that specific name.
At the point of the loop is a small rope abseiling down manmade tree root steps to a hidden fishing spot.
Walkway Summary
If doing this loop track make sure to wear proper shoes, it is best walked in dry seasons as it could get slippery when wet and its a quite a drop from the cliff and unenjoyable if falling into gorse (a spikey invasive plant).
The track is a hilly narrow path with a few tree root steps.
We rate it a 6/10 difficulty due to its rough terrain and slippery nature.
