News Overview
At about 11:00-11:55AM on the 26th of march one of the Waiheke based electric buses broke down at the Surfdale bus stop.
It was then towed out of the location back to the bus repair depo just after 12:00PM. The tow truck towed the bus out of the location without too much difficulty. Cars were only held up for 1-3 mins on the main road. So only a small disruption.
A person was directing traffic on Miami Ave.
I was going to ask for more details on the breakdown. But the crew was doing quick work to clear the main road.
I found it interesting they use a metal bar to tow so you can’t run forward into the towing truck under normal circumstances.
Can’t say if the breakdown was because it was a electric bus. I would assume a battery and motor would be pretty reliable system. Outside of battery degradation, but this is more of a slow failure not a instant repair needed.
