Te Miro Bay is a little secluded beach sheltered by pohutukawa trees. Located below the coastal walkway called the Matiatia Headland path and only accessible by foot.
Not many people know about this bay as they usually just stick to the paths. To access the bay you will have to leave the path, but be careful there is only one way to get down.
Te Miro Bay is located in Oneroa/Cable Bay district. The bay can be entered off Nick Johnstone Drive on foot. There is a small cul-de-sac to park at the end of Nick Johnstone Drive. The rest of the way is on foot down a unpaved driveway these are private properties so stick to the path. At the end of the unpaved path there is grassed path with a walkway sign. Cross the small bridge and just before the steps turn left, there is a unmarked path through the mulenbekia (plants) it will lead you to Te Miro Bay. Be careful with the man made tree rooted steps going down to the beach they can be slippery.
You can either take in the ocean views on the bay while sitting on the pebbles or take a stroll around the rocks. There are no rubbish bins or beach amenities at Te Miro Bay. Please take your rubbish home with you.
Located above the bay on the Matiatia Headland path is a picnic table. You can sit and have a picnic with ocean views in the background.
