Gear Grab is a hire shop on Waiheke, we have a wide range of everyday gear. We are always upgrading and adding awesome new items to our stock.
It is our brand new business that opened in May 2024. Created by me (Jordan) and my husband (Justin). Being locals we know the struggle when you are unable to do everyday tasks without having to wait for delivery of items. Our shop was created for locals and tourists that only need to use the item once or to bring extra fun to Waiheke.
Gear grab started as an idea by my husband and then eventually became a reality.
Our store consists of party, gaming, outdoors, household, tech and more.
Hire prices are unbeatable and affordable for everyone.
It is 18+ to hire and license required. We are also open 6 days a week, Closed Tuesday. But we have 7 day returns available, just ask in the shop 🙂

2025 Update
More items in the shop, this includes products such as a nail gun, weed eater, 80mm Plant auger, more PS5 games, outdoor game, a powerful hedge trimmer, Ego post hole borer, 56V Ego chainsaw and a hansa mulcher. As far as shop layout or parking the shop is pretty much the same with Miami Ave just been resealed so the parking spaces are nice and smooth. Prices still remain fair and whispers on the street are big ideas are coming into action soon.

- Fishing rods, tennis rackets, pickle ball, disc golf, sports balls, petanque, cricket set, metal detectors.
- Party hire – speakers, helium tanks, buntings, fog machines, bubble machines, strobes, festoons, disco, black lights and RGB lights, chairs, tables, gazebos.
- Car seats/booster seats, portacots, child safety gate and more.
- Water blasters, carpet cleaners, window cleaners, upholstery cleaners, vacuum cleaners, sump pump, Ego auger, Jackhammer, hansa mulcher, weed eaters.
- Hedge trimmers and Pole hedge trimmers, Pole saws, Chainsaws, Blowers, Drills, SDS Drills, Laser level, building tools and more.

Access Info
The best way to access parking to Gear Grab would be coming from Ostend to Surfdale. It is best to pull into one of the eight diagonal parks.
If you are a long vehicle or have a boat and want to pick up a big hire item. It is best to access from Oneroa to Surfdale, as on the other side of the road there is a triple length carpark that is commonly empty.
Public Toilet
There is a public toilet 50m down from Gear Grab at Surfdale carpark. It’s a big stainless-steel pod.
