The HEKE is the go-to spot for craft drinks on Waiheke. Come by for a lunch, dinner, or try a tasting flight to enjoy the local flavours from Waiheke Whisky and Waiheke Brewing Co.

The Heke kitchen, brewery & distillery is inviting with its sun filled spaces & delicious food, such as burgers and woodfired pizza’s.

Two Waiheke families created The Heke on four acres of gardens. It’s home to their Restaurant, Waiheke Whisky Distillery & Craft Beer Brewery. Waiheke Whisky makers Mark and Ro joined up with Waiheke Brewing Co folks Mark and Vivian and created a masterpiece. A well loved tourist destination and local hang out.

Their whisky distillery & craft beer brewery is called THE MASHERY. Visit and learn all about the brewing and distilling process, sample global medal-winning Waiheke Whisky and Waiheke Brewing Co beers in there tasting bar called The Boil maker.

They also have a shop that you can take home your favourite whisky, beer and spirits along with some clothing and gifts.

Wheelchair access

There is an angled ramp/path that accesses this building. There is a large accessible bathroom in this building too. Please note the ramp/path may not be suitable for some wheelchairs, as it has a compacted gravel finish. There is another entrance on one level with the distillery and brewery, with accessible parking, however in some periods this might need their help to confirm, as it is alongside their working brewery and there may be water/heat/noise in this area. They can let you know on the day. They suggest you first access the restaurant entrance and They can help direct you from there if necessary or give them a call before you come, details below.

Note that distillery and brewery tours may not be suitable for all abilities due to close working zones and height access – just ask them
