The Wood pigeon is a large distinctively-coloured pigeon, it is easy to find on Waiheke due to its size, they are usually perched on powerlines or trees.

Hey guys I'm Jordan and My husband is Justin. We started this Local Waiheke Directory to provide up to date information about Waiheke, Including Businesses, Beaches, Walks, Carparks, Fishing Spots, Access Information, Lookouts and more. My husband has lived on the island most of his life, I have lived here for almost 10 years and even now I'm still learning about what businesses have to offer and what are the best beaches to go to etc. Waiheke has so much to offer but there is very little information so we wanted to change that. My main focus is Businesses, Beaches and Wildlife, I research and write a small overview of each. My Husband works on Carparks, Walkways, Streets and defibrillators he is also the photographer and mans our drone. He is in actual fact the one that came up with this directory idea and built our website. Together we work on this in our spare time, as we are also the owners and creators of a small unique hire shop named Gear Grab located in Surfdale. We look forward to seeing where this takes us and love to share our paradise we call home.
Grey Warbler
The Grey Warbler is a tiny olive-grey song bird often heard before seen. Locations on Waiheke are dense woody vegetations. The warbler can be difficult to spot.
White Faced Heron
The white-faced heron is a tall, elegant, blue-grey bird usually spotted stalking prey. Locations found on Waiheke are Mangroves, Anzac bay and quiet beaches.
Fantail
The Fantail is a well known NZ bird due to its distinctive fanned tail. Locations found on Waiheke are any well-treed parks, bush walks and even properties.
NZ Dotterel
The New Zealand Dotterel is a shorebird which breeds on beaches in NZ’s North Island. Locations found on Waiheke are Whakanewha, Anzac Bay and Blackpool.

Living The Island Life Waiheke is a small shop located in the Ostend Pharmacy. They are a small portion of the pharmacy. They sell beach products and giftware.
Skeleton Bay
Skeleton Bay is located on the northside of Waiheke. It is a little bay between Sandy Bay and Hekerua Bay, it can only be accessed via boat or walking across the rocks.
Poukaraka Flats Campground
Poukaraka Flats is a large sheltered campground located at Whakanewha Regional Park. It is set back from a beautiful bay called Whakanewha Bay.
Whakanewha Bay
Whakanewha Bay is located on the southside of Waiheke, it is a quiet bay but can be busy in peak summer times, it is also the nesting zone for our beautiful NZ Dotterel.

The Forge is a shipping container style outdoor gym/fitness centre located in Oneroa. They offer a range of fitness classes, personal training and open gym sessions.
Woodside Bay
Woodside Bay is a quiet little bay located in the Whakanewha region. It is a little bit of a drive but can be perfect for a quiet picnic away from all the busy Waiheke life.
Rocky Bay/Kuakarau Bay
Rocky Bay also formally known as Kuakarau Bay is a pretty quiet bay, it is perfect for a picnic and a fun space for children to play on its wooden playground The Black Smith.
